This Is The Day The Lord Has Made

ThisIsTheDay

“This is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it” Psalm 118:24

Start your day with God’s joy in your heart.

What exactly is God’s joy?

God’s Joy is not the type of joy people would normally associate with the word, such as happiness, delight, enjoyment or cheerfulness. It is the inner joy that only comes from knowing God.

{ Joy is the infallible sign of the presence of God.― Pierre Teilhard de Chardin}

Each day is a gift from God. Every morning when we wake up, we have a clean slate, a brand new day awaits us – a day that is filled with the presence of God. How exciting is that?

God’s presence is all around us. We see God in the birds singing as the sun rises, the sound of children playing on a warm summer afternoon, in the smile of a friend, memories that warm our hearts and the colorful sunset on the horizon. All we need to do to experience God’s Joy is slow down, be still and watch in wonder as God reveals His presence to us.

So let us rejoice today and be glad as we experience the presence of God today and every day in our life.

The Day After Thanksgiving

I dedicate this song to everyone who waits until Thanksgiving to play Christmas music, decorate and start their shopping!

You can thank my son for giving me the CD – now I will think of all of you with smiles as I listen to this song and secretly sing to you “It’s Beginning To Look Like Christmas”!!

You know I love all of you! 😀

“The Day After Thanksgiving” by Brandon Heath

There’s still plenty of leaves
Golden on the trees
Hoodies, blue jeans and football
Bonfires and school nights
Scarecrows and hayrides
It’s fall everywhere except the mall

I don’t want to hear about Santa Claus coming
No silver bells or a dozen drummers drumming
I don’t want to see an inflatable nothing
Till the day after Thanksgiving
(And not a day early)

Don’t plug in those electric candles
Or dangle those stockings from the living room
Those tangled up lights are more than I can handle
Till the day after Thanksgiving

Then oh let it snow
Go and tell everyone you know
That Christmas is here
Every day between now and new year

Don’t deck the halls with the tinsel or the holly
You can make me grumpy but you can’t make me jolly
Elves don’t even make curly haired dollies
Till the day after Thanksgiving

Then oh let it snow
Christmas card, everyone you know
Then pour on the cheer
Every day between now and new year

I want the cookies and the mistletoe kissing
Angel on top of a tall tree glisten
Wrap it all up in a pretty red ribbon
The day after Thanksgiving

(You can put antlers on your car for all I care)
As long as its the day after Thanksgiving

A Wonderful Day

We all live in different parts of the world.  Some of us may be knee-deep in snow while others are relaxing on a beach enjoying the sunshine.  And some like me, just have cold deary days and wondering if we will ever the see the sun again!

This  morning I had my quiet time while it was still dark and 3o minutes later when the sun should have greeted me it was a dull gray mist that started off my day. As I embraced this new day I noticed Gods marvelous work all around me.  I saw Gods creativity in the shadows from the bare trees casting a special touch to the gray landscape and I heard the heavenly music of winter birds, their songs echoing in the cold morning chill ~ My oh my what a wonderful start to my day!

Here is only a sample of the some of the wonderful things that made up my day ~ the flower buds on my White Dogwood tree and the tiny buds of my lilac bushes reminding me that spring will soon arrive.  The sun peeking out mid morning filling my office with its warmth. Coming home to enjoy a nice warm cup of tea watching the sun set behind the clouds into a dreary but serene evening. And as I left this evening for bible study the quietness of the day as it was ending was filling me with a sense of a peacefulness that can only come from Gods presence.

This weeks song is to remind you that no matter where you live, no matter what the weather is and regardless of what the day holds, that with each new day there will always be plenty of sunshine heading your way full of wonderful feelings for a wonderful day!  It is the sunshine deep within you that only comes from the love that God has especially for you.

Monday Monday

Here is something to get you moving on a Monday morning! I am lounging around enjoying my extra day off work and savoring my morning tea when I thought of this song.  So, sit back and relax, indulge yourself with a cup of tea or coffee, along with a delicious piece of chocolate – for me that would be a cookie ~ enjoying a moment to your self while singing along as we begin our busy week.

Happy Monday ~  may your week be blessed with random outbursts of infectious giggles!

“Being tickled to death is a great way to live. Jumping for joy is good exercise”

Barbara Johnson  {Living Somewhere Between Estrogen and Death)

Barbara Johnson is one of my favorite authors.  She lived a life of adversity but through trusting God she found His peace.  And through that peace she found joy.  It is that joy that she shared with us through her many books and her appearances at the Women of Faith Conferences.  I had a chance to meet Barbara at one of the conferences and it was indeed a joyful experience.  Whenever I read that quote I think of her life and how she lived it and how she blessed all that knew her with the joy of the Lord.

So this coming week – let us jump for the joy that comes from God and fill our world with laughter as if we were being “tickled to death”. Do you remember as a child being “tickled to death” and what fun that was? When our children were younger we had the tickle monster; their laughter still rings through our hearts.

Keep smiling and enjoy the sunshine even on the cloudy days.

The Sunshine Jar ~ My challenge to you my dear readers is to fill your jars or journals and at the end of 2013 share what your jars of sunshine held. May sunshine fill your lives with the joy of all the good things that await for you in 2013, even on the darkest days. Blessings ~ Patty

I read a lot of positive blogs, facebook sites and articles.

Then I came across great ideas which I wanted to share with you.

1st January is a good day to start…..

Idea 1.

jar

Idea 2.

Write a Gratitude Journal

This picture is the one I will use, all ready for January 2013.

I will write down every day , at the end of the day, what good things the day gave me and what I was grateful for on this day.

A wonderful way to celebrate each day, think of the gifts and positive things of each day and I can show my gratitude and be thankful .

you can receive everything

as a marvelous gift.”

Miss Sunshine

A few days ago one of the blogs that I follow Change The World posted an article “You’re so beautiful” in it they state:

“…this week, the way that you can change the world is to make someone else (and yourself) feel good about themselves through the strategies presented through Operation Beautiful. Basically, you leave post-it notes in public places (especially bathroom mirrors, but you can put them anywhere) that say that someone is beautiful, loved, amazing, or something like that. So many people feel down on themselves because of appearances or other superficial qualities, and this is a great way to raise someone’s self-esteem, or simply make their day. The great thing about this way to change the world is that people may pay it forward. So, go for it!”

Well I am going to “go for it”.  I am going to change the world one note at a time that I hope will inspire you, encourage you and gives you a plain old-fashioned nice day.  So keep a look out for Miss Sunshine, she is coming your way!

“If I could give you one thing. I would give you the ability to see yourself as others see you…then you would realize what a truly special person you are.”  { Barbara A. Billings}
