The Blogging Awards

During my illness and long recuperation period I have received blogging awards from some writers I truly admire.  I appreciate the love and kindness from people that were once strangers and now becoming friends in the blogging community.  They are the closest things to brighten my day apart from a hug.

I would like to do something different and instead of passing along awards I would like to host guest bloggers, so they can share their words or photos with you and you can see first hand why they are so special to me.  This truly is a community where we all share our stories and encourage each other and that is award enough for me, being a part of this community.

But I can recommend someone who you need to follow, if you do not already.  That person is Jesus Christ.  You can find His story in the Bible which is the inspired word of our Heavenly Father – God.  The book literally starts at the beginning of time and takes you through the lives of our early ancestors as you experience their love of God. Some of the amazing people you will meet will be Abraham and about his faith and his obedience to follow God no matter where God led him and Daniel’s courage and faith as he faces lions and comes out victorious. You will read about Paul’s transformation from someone who persecutes Christians to someone who is persecuted.

You will also get to know some of the most sinful people you would ever meet; there is Jacob, father to one of the first dysfunctional families yet he will become the father of Israel.  There is David highly favored by God, yet events and circumstances will make him turn away from God, but he will find forgiveness and restoration through his obedience and faith as David submits his life to God. These are but a few of interesting characters you will find.

Through the bible you will learn about the love of God and how He restores us to the perfect relationship that was originally intended for us to share with Him.  You will see your own life change as you get to know Jesus and walk with Him alongside His Disciples, cry as He is crucified, and rejoice with the women at the empty tomb at our Lords resurrection. At the end of the Bible – you will know that it is not the ending but actually the beginning as we wait for His return.

If you want a good read filled with action and quirky characters and that is full of inspiration, wisdom and love then check out the Bible at:

versatileblogger111Jubilee Journey for the Versatile Blogger award. Ana writes: “I hope to offer words of encouragement and inspiration to help is others enjoy their jubilee in Christ.” She takes us on the path to enjoying the freedom that is found in Jesus Christ.  My favorite post that she wrote is “Discerning God’s Will” she writes about not giving up, at at time that I was ready to.  She ended her article with, “It’s always darkest before dawn. If we give up too soon we may miss the miracle blessing God desperately wants to give us. Moving too soon, outside his will can only delay or prevent God working in our lives and the lives of others.” That quote has helped me to stay focused on God and to keep moving forward no matter the obstacles.  Ana is such an encourager that she blessed me with a few more awards, “Very Inspiring Blogging Award” and “Sisterhood of the World Bloggers”, she would not have known how encouraging these awards were to me during this time.

Faith Rises also for the Versatile Blogger award.  Faith writes, “Faithrises is a place for readers to be encouraged and motivated, through stories, quotes, and biblical examples.” Her articles do indeed challenge me to rise above the challenges in my life to be all that I can to glorify God. As I was browsing to choose one of my favorite articles I found one I had not read yet, “Sunrise” in which she writes “each sunrise brings me a brand new day.. It puts me a day ahead of where I was yesterday, and all the other yesterdays.” Now when I see a sunrise I will be reminded that tomorrow is gone, today is a fresh start and there is hope for tomorrow in another brand new day.

Blog of the Year Award 6 star jpegDeep and Wonderful Thoughts for my 6th star! She writes, ” One of my personal goals is to help make the world a better place, one person at a time.” and all I can say she is doing it!  This world is a better place because she is in it. She has a series titled, Beauty for Ashes, stories of God’s Redeeming Love”, I think you will find encouragement and hope in these articles. One of the things I found about her is that she is also a group leader for Bible Study Fellowship, it is something else that bonds us together as sisters in Christ.

There is one more yet to claim and time is running out, so it must be left for another day.  I thank you for reading and for thinking of me and I thank God for the gift He gave me with words, for it is God who truly moves my fingers and controls my thoughts.

2012 Awards

The past few weeks I have been blessed with some more awards for my writing.  First I want to apologize to the writers who nominated for these awards.  Between being sick and preparing for Christmas and then my time of rest I have fallen behind in my job, housework, craft projects and my writing.  So I am getting myself caught up and boy does it feel good to have my pile on my desk (both at home and work) go down, the only thing left to do is to have a clean house, but I don’t see that happening any time soon ~ as my daughter says, “housework is overrated”!

Secondly ~ instead of passing on the awards to just a few I would, again,  like to extend a thank you to all of my readers.  Each you have inspired me to go beyond my comfort zone and to experience my dream of writing.  I also want to give you a heartfelt thank you for reading my blog and giving me positive feedback.  I have always enjoyed writing but knowing that my words can encourage and uplift others confirm that this is where God has me planted me, for now.  God guides my thoughts and my fingers and I am so humbled to be His servant.

Each of you deserves these awards, so please accept them and claim them.  And I hope you visit the blogs I follow and recommend some new ones to me.  My prayer is for each of you to be touched in some way by those that have enhanced my life.

The Awards:

My thanks to you

Thank you Cathy from Comments from Cathy for this award that says it all!  Cathy is a very talented writer who writes about her life; family. friends and faith. She is an inspiration to all who know her and read her articles. She has as her intro “Sipping tea and being cozy…learning from the past…looking toward the future…learning to be still in everyday life”. So as you sip your tea I encourage you to visit her and be encouraged.

food for thought

Cathy  also graciously nominated me for the Food For Thought Award.    This award was created to combine “The Super Sweet Blogger Award with The Thought Provoking Blog Award.  When a Christian blog offers visitors wisdom from the Word of God, isn’t that blog providing its visitors food for thought? Ta da Thus was born a new award.”

Some of the rules are to  post the award on your blog; Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog; Share seven of your favorite Bible passages. You get extra credit if you explain why the verses are a favorite!

I can’t wait to read everyone’s favorite verses.  I will share my bible verses in a separate article.

Thank you Terri from Terri1954 her blog is “inspirational stories that touch your heart and soul” and that does sum up her blog.  She has a heart the size of Texas and it comes out in her writing. And she is a very special friend.

She also has a background on her page that states, “Learn from yesterday, Live for today, Hope for tomorrow” she fills our lives with that hope that is found in Jesus.

I would also like to thank Pam from So, Hear Me for nominating me for the Lovely Blog Award.  She started writing in November of 2012 and already is teaching us some interesting background historical facts.  If you like history than I can recommend her page.  I cannot wait to read more of her history behind the history!

And a big thank you goes to one of my new blogging friends, Created ~ for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.  She writes that she is “An avid reader and travel enthusiast with a servant heart, an ardent lover of nature and all things good and beautiful in life!” I have started to follow her blog and look forward to read about her  “adventures and misadventures”  She was in Switzerland and I am sure will be writing about her adventures (hopefully no misadventures) there along with some pictures I hope!

Blog of the Year Award 5 star jpeg

And for my next 4 stars for the 2012 Blog of the Year Award, I want to thank 4 very lovely people:

Future.Flying.Saucers – she welcomes us to her world “where kids want to be flying saucers, school takes place all over the house, and God reigns. So pull up a chair, take your shoes off and stay for a few minutes.” so stop by and take off your shoes and stay – you won’t be disappointed, she offers valuable insight to our spiritual journey with God.

Can’t Stay Out Of The Kitchen – I started following Theresa because I love to cook.  But little did I know that I not only have found some delicious recipes but another sister in Christ.

JanBeek – Jan shines with the love of God and she expresses it in her writing.  She enjoys to “tell the old, old story of Jesus and His Love”!

Sheri de Grom – Sheri and I share a bond with our love of books and our background with the military.    It has been a joy in getting to know her. She writes about issues dealing with the military and with the retired military.  She also reviews books and thanks to Sheri my to read list is getting bigger and bigger!!   She has  good intuition in the literary world.

I am privileged to know all of these special people and all of you who daily touch my life in a special way.  Thank you for making this a wonderful experience.

Blog of the year 2012

Blog of the Year Award 1 star jpegFirst I would like to say thank Misifusa {The Presents of Presence} for nominating me for the 2012 blog of the year.  When I started to blog nearly 2 yrs ago, I never thought what an interesting journey I would be on.

It all started with a suggestion and support from many wonderful friends.  It took 50 yrs but I found my purpose, or I should say God has been gently directing me and I have finally stilled my soul to not only hear His voice but to listen to His Word.  Thank you Misifusa for the nomination and for seeing what God sees.

Misifusa and I share a bond not many of us want but what many of us are thankful to have, we are both breast cancer survivors.   I like what she writes in her introduction: “Life is about the now, not the past, not the future.  You can learn so much by watching reruns of the past and developing plans for the future, but the most important is The Presents of Presence.  There’s a lot to be said for having cancer and surviving.  Life changes once you’ve faced death and it’s for the better.  So let me begin by telling you my story…”

Yes life changes and although I can say it was a long difficult road that we and many others have traveled, I think she will agree with me that we have had many days that we felt the “Present of His Presence” in our lives and as we both look forward to the future we know that whatever may happen God will always be with us during our trials and especially through our  joys.  I hope you stop by her blog, read her story and be inspired..

Now to this award.  This is slightly different from the others as you can add extra stars to it every time someone nominates you for it.  That’s a fun variation.  Here are the rules, as explained by the creator of the award, and my nominations for other bloggers, as well.

The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award – and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5 You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different.  When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given this award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.  Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

And Congratulations! on being chosen for the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award.

It is a difficult job to nominate only a few for this award. Each person here has touched my life in a wonderful way.  You will never know the lives you touch with your writing and your photographs.  Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.

I choose my nominations for their walk with God.  It is a journey we are all on and is made easier with the people God puts in our lives to help us along our life’s path.

The Heart of Bloggers

This has indeed been a busy  month for me.  After we returned from vacation, it seemed like I could not get my mind on the normal everyday tasks.  The first few weeks I decided to enjoy my vacation for a little while longer.   I  sorted through pictures to post, read, sewed and enjoyed that vacation feeling, while housework, deadlines and errands were all but forgotten.  Then reality hit and I knew I  really needed to get moving and accomplish some things.  And just as I was getting back in my routine and making hot meals for my family again my computer crashed for the final time, so I decided to buy a new computer. I thought I would have no problems with all the latest programs, since the one computer at work is new.  Let me tell you I was wrong! Our computer at work is over a year old now and I am sure is now considered an antique.  And with my new purchase I was blessed with Windows 8.  :O Oh MY GOSH! Let me tell you…..

After getting everything hooked up which took two days because I also bought a wireless printer, that alone is a story for another day, I thought I would never like windows 8. I am not one for change, as I quote my grandmother, “if it ain’t broke you don’t fix it”, after all  what was wrong with the old windows and Microsoft programs.   Then slowly, before I knew it,  Windows 8 had me hooked, I never knew what hit me.  I even get my kindle app on it, so who needs a iPad or notebook, I have Windows 8 my new best friend!  So all my best laid plans of putting my house in order went on the way side. There was a new toy in town and I had it!  So here I sit, “busy” but not really busy, just playing as I am falling behind on my daily routine once again.

But, now I am pulling up the ole boot straps, rolling up sleeves and ready to get back to work cleaning my house, finishing craft projects and writing. The first thing I want to do as I get back into the daily grind of life,  is thank each of you for the nominations for these awards.

I appreciate each one of you.  Each of you have what I call the heart of a blogger, that is a person who writes, photographs and creates from the depth of their hearts. My inbox is full of wonderful posts that are informative, fun and bring laughter and at times tears as I cry along with you.   You have all become an important part of my day, and I look forward to our evening visits.

So on to the awards, my nominations and the Award logos.

I would like to thank Sheri de Grom for nominating for this award. The rules I must follow to complete the nomination process have been fun as I think back on my favorite books. The rules asked to list my five favorite books of all time. Rule number two is easier; post the booker award icon on my blog, and number three should have been a breeze. I’ll nominate other bloggers who have literary and book-centered blogs. However, I subscribe to dozens of literary and book-centered blogs—it was tough choosing from what I thought was the absolute right mix for my selections.

1.  Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell; 2. All Together In One Place by Jane Kirkpatrick and also by Jane K is my number 3. A Clearing In The Wild {a trilogy}; 4. Little Women by Louisa Mae Alcott and 5. The Anne of Green Gable Series by Lucy M Montgomery.

My nominations for fellow books lovers are: Bookin it; The Writer Within; Sholashade; Afternoon Tea; and future.flying.saucers

BLOG awards

What is a BLOG?  According to Wikipedia a BLOG is a portmanteau from the term, Weblog, that is a discussion or information site published on the world wide web….  Blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

To me a BLOG is more than a “log” or journal.  For me the term BLOG stands for:  Beautiful, Loveable, Outgoing, and Gracious people who share their lives through stories, poems, verse and photos.  They share their dreams, offer hope and encouragement, spread a little joy and often times create smiles for their readers.

Each of us wait in anticipation for the next email notifications for our favorite blogs.  They are visits from friends.  We know each email offers a touch of sunshine to our day, enhancing our day with a quote or bringing us beauty in a picture.  Blogging is a unique community of friendships that are built on sharing the same interests and life experiences.  It is also a gift from God for us,  His children.  God uses everything in our life to bring His children together in fellowship, worship and study.

Then there are the awards.  They are nice to receive and I appreciate the kindness of my friends that nominate me.  And I enjoy reading about their nominations and how they have touched so many other lives and in meeting new friends who they recommend.

To my fellow blogger friends who nominated me The Commenter Award:  Simply Juliana, Life of a Minister Mom, The Lovely Blog Award: Terry 1954 and The Very Inspiring Blog: Faith First Ministries, I want to say thank you for your encouraging words, and for brightening my day when I need it, to share in your joys and to pray for your needs.  When I read your articles and admire your photos I see a glimpse of God.  It is a blessing from God to be a part of your community.

Commentator Award

To pass on these awards I nominate for the Commenter Award the following: On The Homefront And Beyond, Comments from Cathy, Chatter Blog, Masako and Spam Musubi, Not So Fancy Nancy , My Broom and A Grateful Man.   The rules for this Award is:  To pass on this award you are to recognize your  followers who leave encouraging and cute comments on your blog.

For the Very Inspiring Blogger Award I nominate: Growing in Jesus, Daily Encouragement, Enough Light, LBTK, Five Reflections, Cast Light, and Hungry Heart.

The rules for the Very Inspiring Blogger is:

1) Display the award logo on your blog.                               2)  Link back to the person who nominated you.                                                                        3)  State 7 things about yourself.                                                                                                    4)  Nominate 15 other bloggers for this award and link to them.                                                 5)  Notify those bloggers of the nomination and the award’s requirements.

For The One Lovely Blog Award I nominate:  Modern Scottie Dog, My Beautiful Things, M Sullivan Photography, Tidy Tipsy  Photography, Life in Laraque, Momentum of Joy , One Hundred Years Ago, Bell Grove Plantation and Ostrander Blog.  The rules for One Lovely Blog is:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to them.
  2. Share 7 unknown things about yourself.
  3. Nominate  other bloggers for this award.

I have received these awards before and did not want to bore you with more details about myself.  I much prefer to write about those who touch my life and inspire me to live each day following Jesus.

Thank you to all my fellow bloggers, you will never know the impact you all have made on my life.

The Prize

It is always an honor to receive a notification that I have been nominated for awards.  This has been a wonderful journey of not only writing but meeting such awesome people.  I especially want to thank : The Remissionary  and  Theblazingtrail nominating me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award; and GrowingChristianWoman nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award.  They have become an important part of my daily walk with God, through a touch of a humor, plenty of encouragement and daily life lessons.

According to the Encarta Dictionary an award is something given for achievement.  Wikipedia states: An award is something given to a person or a group of people to recognize their excellence in a certain field; a certificate of excellence. Awards are often signified by trophies, titles, certificates, commemorative plaques, medals, badges, pins, or ribbons. An award may also simply be a public acknowledgment of excellence, without any tangible token or prize.

I like the some of the other words for award – honor, gift, reward, give, and bestow, which give true meaning to these Blogging Awards.  We all unselfishly bestow our gifts and talents to others through our words, verse and photos.  It is also a gift to receive such wonderful blessings in my inbox every day.

Another word “prize”  reminds me of a biblical verse from Philippians 3:14 “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Paul is telling us to follow earnestly – to keep an eye on the goal and not to be distracted and in the end we will receive the prize when we reach our goal… eternal life with Christ Jesus.   There are many prizes waiting for me, the awards bestowed upon me by new friends, the reward of my family, the gift of  beautiful days and my goal for which God has called all of us “heavenward in Christ Jesus”

What is your goal as you press on towards the ultimate award that is found in Jesus Christ?  Is it in your writing or is it a hidden desire waiting to be nurtured?  Whatever your goal do not get distracted, but keep doing what God has called you to do, and when you reach the finish line your prize will be these words:  “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things” (Matt. 25:21).

I know I am to pass on the awards to other blogs that I have enjoyed, that have inspired and encouraged me.  But that is such a difficult task.  I enjoy everyone’s articles , poems and pictures.   There are the poems I start off my day with, and the beautiful pictures I enjoy when I come home from work after a busy day and the articles I have my evening cup of tea with.  So, if you do not mind, I am going to do something different, I nominate all of you for the following awards: The Very Inspiring Blog – not a day goes by that I don’t get encouraged or inspired in my Christian walk and The One Lovely Blog Award – There is something special and unique about everyone that brings beauty into my life.

And I invite all of you to visit my community of bloggers and check out their pages.  Each one of you are very special to me.

I am so humbled to be nominated for  two awards – the Reader Appreciation Award and the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.

This has been a difficult month and these awards had given me the encouragement I needed to continue to write and not give in to despair.  Which reminds me of  the saying that Marilla Cuthbert gave to Anne Shirley…”to despair is to turn your back on God”

So I want to say thank you to for the nomination for the Reader Appreciation Award.  I can honestly say I appreciate reading about her ranch life in Montana.  The pictures she has shared took me away to a serene and quieter place that refreshes my spirit turning despair into hope.

Also I would like to thank: for nominating me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award.  She wrote how I was one of the blogs that have touched her life, when in all honesty it has been Juliana that has touched my life from reminding me how to cast all my cares on to Jesus, to today’s post ~ Psalm 91:1-16 reminding me that unlike Anne of Green Gable who once stated “she has never belonged to anyone” that I have always belong to God – my shelter from life’s storms.

Since I recently accepted the nomination for the Reader Appreciation I would like to thank everyone who reads my blog.    I appreciate all of you and as Marilla told Anne I think that ” we may be kindred spirits after all”.  So consider yourselves all nominated and go to the original post for the rules to pass it on if you desire to do so…. Reader Appreciation Award

The rules for the Very Inspiring Blogging Award:

Please, follow these directions as I did:
1)      Display the award logo on your blog.
2)      Link back to the person who nominated you.
3)      State 7 things about yourself.
4)      Nominate 15 other bloggers for this award and link to them.
5)      Notify those bloggers of the nomination and the award’s requirements.
Now with that being said I wish to state the seven things about myself.

1.  I am a Christian

2. I love being a wife and mother

3.  I enjoy learning new crafts, now learning to knit ~ quilting is my favorite craft

4.  Writing has opened a door to my soul and taking me on new adventures

5.  I love to read – anything from fiction, to non fiction, to Christian Devotions

6.  I adopted Pennsylvania as my home

7.  I love Dachshunds but recently have renewed my love for Scotties (we are not telling our doxies this!)

And since I am only allowed to pick 15 out of all the blogs that inspire me, I decided to pick the last 15 that I recently subscribed to.  It is through all of your poems, pictures and words you have inspired me to soar beyond the “scopes of my imagination”.
