In The Garden

In the Garden has always been one of mine and Tom’s favorite hymns.   As we go about our day if we stop the hustle and bustle and listen closely we will hear His voice upon on ears as He calls us His own.  May you hear the voice of God call out to you this week as you put all your concerns aside and tarry with God in the garden of your soul.

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

Refrain ~ And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

  1. This is also one of my favorite hymns. My husband and I were going for a drive last weekend…singing this song together. It is a song of joy and comfort…of God’s love for us.

  2. Hi Patty,
I do find peace in the garden, no matter how stressed I am when I go there–often putting it off until I’m in a rush to harvest raspberries before the sun sets–and then I hear the birds sing, and the breeze rustling the leaves of the apple tree, and the neighbors calling in their kids to dinner, and I naturally fall back into sync with this beautiful world. Lovely post! Sending you hugs–it’s so nice to have you back and posting again.

    1. How blessed you are to have a real garden to walk and talk with our Lord! And thank you for you kind words, it is nice to be writing again but it is bitter sweet.

  3. Big thumbs up for that hymn Patty! if I had more than 2 thumbs..they would be reaching to the sky right now too….I love that hymn….my favorite version just so happens to be by Mr. Jackson..but another favorite version of mine is by Elvis…. thanks so much for sharing and God bless! (by the way it is so fitting that you shared this hymn since we’ve been out working in the garden this week! 🙂
